CD production a future for the record store?">On–demand CD production a future for the record store?

More and more people download their music on the internet, and record stores are having a hard time. How come I’ve never heard anyone talk about on–demand CD production in the stores? The rapid decline in the number of record stores was discussed in a program on Swedish Radio P2 a couple of hours ago. […]

EU">Sweden most competitive nation in the EU

The World Economic Forum (WEF) has just released its 2010 Lisbon Review. According to this report, Sweden is the most competitive nation in the EU [SvD]. According to the WEF press release, Sweden is “the most competitive economy as measured by the European Union’s (EU) own competition benchmark, the Lisbon criteria”. As I understand it, […]

Ash cloud: Societal and economical consequences of extended flight ban

Today’s society depends on flight for supply and delivery of goods. An extended flight ban has severe consequences. Here are some examples. Saab deal official — how about platforms?

GM and Spyker have finally announced that the Saab deal is real after all. This is great news! As this article shows, most experts seem to agree that Saab now must find a partner to increase production volumes and share the costs of platform development. I’m not so certain.

What is lean, really?

I’m uncertain whether it is possible to pick up this topic without falling into the how-to-define-lean trap. The nature of lean is a question that is discussed at length by researchers, but seldom asked in the “real world”. The reason could be that it’s mostly a matter of theoretical interest. However, since I believe that […]

Welcome!

Welcome to my site which I intend to use for writings and musings on production research and engineering. Additionally, it will serve as my personal home page. Although I’m Swedish, I will be using English as the main language for this blog. The reason is that the community of production researchers is highly international and […]
